Installation method of STOPCOR anodes and periodic check

1.  Fitting instructions

The first step is to choose the appropriate fitting point in the installation, which is preferably not close to its edge. It is advisable to clean the connection point locally so that the contact is stable.

Using drilling equipment we drill a hole in the ground close to the fitting point of the device which is meant to be the grounding point.

The size of the diameter of the hole depends on the size of the metal oupat we intend to use.

Having nailed this oupat in the ground, we proceed to measure the difference in voltage reference between the installation and the grounding point using a voltmeter adjusted to the direct current (DC) mode and up to the 2 volts setting.

The indicated value-number should be noted for the field study of the installation regarding the extent of the electrolysis phenomenon.

Given that the value-number of this measurement will not be steady, we take into account the highest value-number which is shown by the voltmeter.

We position the device by connecting the cable on the upper side to the fitting point mentioned earlier, and on the side of the device we connect another cable to the grounding point which we had previously used in the measurement. The process is completed by checking the humidity level inside the device and if it is found insufficient, we supplement it with a glass of water.

After fitting we repeat the measurement of the difference in the voltage reference as before. However, we now measure the grounding point with another point in the installation preferably a bit further away from the connection point. The result of this measurement is the impressed current of the anode on the installation.

Comparing the two values-numbers we conclude that while previously the reading of the voltmeter fluctuated, it is now steady. Also the value-number of the impressed current is above 1 volt, which is the value-number offered by the magnesium metal.

In the rare event of the second measurement showing a number less than 1 volt, then fitting a second device in a row is probably required.
